  • Overview

    This position is primarily responsible for overseeing operational aspects of a Division and at least one other major department, usually Purchasing or Construction or Warranty.  This position is based in the Visalia / Tulare CA area.  

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities

    • Oversees and manages vertical construction operations and at least one other major department.
    • Establishes business plan and budget in conjunction with Division President.
    • Manages operating budgets for profits and losses.
    • Coordinates successful community start up by continuous communication with land development teams, product offering, functional staffing to establish and hit community launch date.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree preferred in construction related field/equivalent.
    • At least three to five years in homebuilding industry, including management experience.

    • Ability to recognize and resolve problems.
    • Organizational skills; detail oriented.
    • Strong management, leadership and motivational skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to perform under high level of stress and ability to make independent decisions.

    Technical Knowledge & Experience

    • Knowledge of local codes and construction methods, construction material identification and use.
    • Knowledge of all phases of new home construction and Federal, State and Company safety.
    • regulations; ability to read and interpret blueprints.
    • Knowledge of job site safety.
    • Budget and cost control experience.
    • Computer skills.
    • Experience in purchasing and customer service in home building industry preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    • Typical office environment.
    • May require travel to multiple construction sites where temperature, weather and noise may vary; may encounter electrical, dust, poor ventilation, dangerous machinery and moving objects and toxic conditions.
