  • Overview

    Assists with the development and implementation of Safety & Environmental Management Programs that address the elements of the Corporate Safety & Environmental Management Program requirements and local, State and Federal environmental requirements and regulations. Emphasis will focus on safety training programs and compliance assurance along with stormwater management, erosion and sediment control and fugitive dust control programs.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develops implements and maintains a program to identify Federal, State and local safety and environmental regulatory requirements impacting the residential development industry.
    • Participates in the development of Corporate Safety & Environmental Standard Operating Practices and Best Management Practices and assists management in implementing them throughout Beazer Homes Divisions.
    • Assists with the development and implementation of training programs, workshops and guidance documents/tools to ensure that Division Land Development, Construction, Sales and Office Departments are aware of their safety and environmental responsibilities and have access to the tools required to achieve and maintain both safety and environmental compliance.
    • Assists Division/project management staff (Land Development, Construction, Sales and Office Departments) in the development of corrective action plans required to resolve identified concerns.
    • Assists the Divisions in developing working relationships with OSHA, EPA, State and local safety and environmental regulatory agencies with jurisdiction over their project activities.
    • Assists Division Land Development and Construction managers in establishing project specific safety and stormwater management, erosion and sediment control programs, obtaining required permits and approvals, establishing inspection programs, recordkeeping procedures and establishing and tracking the status of Division safety and environmental program budgets.
    • Assists Division Land Development and Construction managers in establishing project specific fugitive dust control programs, obtaining required permits and approvals, establishing inspection programs, recordkeeping procedures and establishing Best Management Practices for controlling fugitive dust emissions.

    Education & Experience

    • Minimum 4 year degree in Engineering or Science (Environmental or Soil Scientist preferred). PE or other professional certifications (CPESC/CPSWQ/CISEC/CESSWI) desired.
    • 1-3 years experience desired.
    • OSHA 500/501 desired.

     

    Skills & Abilities

    • Proven skills in managing complex projects involving multiple business units and tight deadlines.
    • Construction industry background and residential development preferred.

    Technical Knowledge & Experience

    • Familiarity with environmental regulations and regulators with an emphasis on NPDES, Stormwater, OSHA 1910 and 1926 and Best Management Practices.

    Physical Requirements

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Work is spread between typical office environment, agency interactions and residential construction sites.
    • Construction sites where temperature, weather and noise may vary and workplace exposure may include exposure to electrical work, ladders and scaffolding, dust, heavy equipment and chemicals routinely used in the residential construction industry.
