    Overview: The Division Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coaching and administering all field construction activities while maintaining frequent communication with President and other departments.  May manage some or all of the following functions: Area Managers, Builders, and Warranty/Customer Service Reps/Manager.   May also have to manage Executive/Administrative Assistant(s) and/or Permitting Coordinator(s).  

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities

    • Manages and administers field activities including setting goals and objectives for staff supervisors pursuant to approved plans, specifications, master contracts, building codes, and company development schedule and cost budgets.
    • Reviews customer experience survey results and creates actions plans to ensure customers have a positive experience (benchmark or higher).
    • Supervises, directs and coaches direct reports, including managing other functions as required by Region/Division organizational structure.
    • Ensures staff receives training on and follows Company and Region/Division construction process & standards, customer experience, quality control and safety methods and procedures.
    • Coordinates schedules, construction staff and production with President and senior staff to accomplish goals and objectives of business plan.
    • Maintains frequent communication with President and other departments; has department meetings to keep current with and to disseminate information to staff; has pre-construction meetings with subcontractors and staff. 

    Education & Experience

    • Ten years in construction with strong background in supervision and personnel management.
    • High school graduate or equivalent. College graduate preferred.
    • Extensive knowledge of on- and off-site construction procedures.

    Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to motivate, supervise and coordinate field and office staff on daily basis.
    • Excellent organization and time management skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
    • Ability to set own priorities to coordinate assignments with fluctuating time-sensitive deadlines
    • Must have effective leadership and team management skills, using strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, collaborative, results-driver work atmosphere.

    Technical Knowledge & Experience

    • Must have computer skills including: Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, scheduling software, and email.
    • Must have broad knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, and building codes.

    Physical Requirements

    • May have occasion to lift/carry and/or push/pull 25 pounds.
    • Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development
    • Construction sites where temperature, weather and noise may vary; may encounter electrical, dust, poor ventilation, dangerous machinery and moving objects and toxic conditions.
